Imagine It, Design It, Make It! This 18 hour course will introduce 13 – 17 year old students to manufacturing. Whether you aspire to work in manufacturing or medicine, law or any other field, having a basic understanding of how things are made will make you more appreciative of the world around you and the “tools” you will use in your life.

Here’s a chance to learn about:

  • computer-aided design (CAD)​
  • computer-controlled (CNC) manufacturing operations
  • 3D printing and plastic technology
  • machining and fabrication of metals other materials

Design and build a product, experiencing the start-to-finish satisfaction of creating something you can show off with pride. In the process you will learn how to do CAD, CAM, CNC design and operate various kinds of manufacturing machinery under the close supervision of expert manufacturing trainers.

You also will tour local manufacturing facilities to learn what types of jobs exist, what skills and training are required, and how those businesses developed.

Get inspired by Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math at this year’s Girls, Science and Technology event at Science Museum of Minnesota, sponsored by Fox 9.

All new demonstrations and hands-on experiements including:

  • Who will become the Queen of Hearts? explore a heart and learn how it functions.
  • Make colored lava lamps and use chemistry to make them move.
  • Learn about contact force technology during ablation procedures to treat complex heart arrhythmia.
  • Use glitter to learn about cell biology
  • Use a glow wall to draw with light
  • Use lights to show how sensing and stimulation activities work with medical devices
  • Microsoft invites you to learn how to code with interactive coding challenges
  • Play with hydrophilic spheres
  • Create a simulated blood pressure signal
  • Learn what chromatography is
  • Deliver therapy in a team that can help restore the heart’s natural rhythm

Admission to Girls, Science, and Technology is included with admission to the Science Museum of Minnesota. Get 4 free child admissions with each paid adult.
